Anyone for Chamomile?

I love Chamomile tea, not only does it help relax me when I can’t sleep but it also works wonders for when I have a sore throat. I got thinking whether there was any beauty uses for Chamomile tea and discovered the following.
*Source*
  • Suffering from Skin or Eye problems? Chamomile has also been found to be a great treatment to skin disorders, sunburns, and eye problems. It can relieve tired or puffy eyes, just soak a wash cloth or cotton wool in a cool cup of chamomile tea and place over your eyes a few times a day.
  • I sometimes use chamomile as a facial steamer. Simply boil water and add a chammile teabag. Once your water has boiled let it sit for a minute or two and grab a towel. Make sure your hair is out of the way and your eyes are closed. Keep an ideal distance between you and the pot and place the towel over your head. You want to stay under the towel enjoying the steam for about five minutes.
  • Want to bring out your natural highlights without uing a hair dye? Meet your new best beauty friend! Steep 2 chamomile tea bags in 2 cups of hot water for 5-10 minutes. Then add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to the mixture. Use this as a final rinse on your hair after your normal shampoo routine, but do not rinse it out. This will help to bring out the natural blond and red tones in your hair and help to slightly lighten your hair all over, without being drastic or looking fake.

The Latest Trend:Coloured Lash Extensions

Has anyone noticed the latest beauty trend that celebs are embracing? I'm talking coloured eyelash extensions. The trend is currently being loved by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry and has also been featured at Dior and Stella Mc Cartney shoes. I think I'm liking the trend, after all a bit of colour on the eyes is always welcome and it's nice to see it doesn't have to be eyeshadow.

But is this trend accessible for you to try? You bet it is,salons up and down the country will soon be offering it but at Up To My Eyes
they are available.

This party season be a little more adventurous and try out their new coloured eyelash extensions with a hint of green, burgundy, violet or blue, colour-tinted eyelash extensions. Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser

Everytime I try something new from Liz Earle, I really like what I see. This is definitely true with their Skin Repair Moisturiser for Normal/Combination skin.
The moituriser claims to soften, smoothe and conditions skin for a naturally healthy-looking glow and is rich in some lovely ingredients including Bete Carotene and Vitamin E. It is recommended to use morning and night after cleansing with Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. I have been using it for just over a month now and have noticed an improvment in my skin. The formula is creamy and on application it seems to cool my skin.
There is one slight downside as there is no SPF in it, so I use it as my night mosituriser. You could use it as a day moistuiriser along with some sunscreen if you wanted to but at the moment I am using another moisturiser with SPF for daytime.
Skin Repair Moisturiser is available on the Liz Earle website as well as Wilde and Green in Milltown. It is priced at €22.55 for a 50ml jar, which is a pretty decent price. I have had the jar for some time now and the only reason there is a biggish dent in it is because I have put some into a travel jar for my holliers. If you just wanted to try it for your hols a 15 ml size will cost €8.75.

Naturigin Hair Colour

I’ve been dying my hair for as long as I can remember, it first started out as blonde highlights but as I got older the blonde highlights were replaced with an all over colour of chocolate brown or something similar. When I was pregnant, I dreaded the thoughts of not being able to dye my hair but thankfully my hairdresser recommended a henna hair dye. I usually dye my hair with L’Orealr Creme Gloss but a few weeks ago I was offered the chance to try Naturigin Organic Hair Colour from the lovely folks over at Simply Natural.
This organic hair colour is available in 19 shades and retails at €10.95. I choose to try dark blonde, thinking it would make a change to my usual choice. What I really like aboout it is that the colours are 100% Ammonia and Parabens free. It’s also made with Natural Oils and Extracts. The development time is 30 mins but it being the first time using it,I opted for 20 minutes.
After following the instructions, I was left with a lovely colour in my hair. It’s a little darker than I expected the colour to turn out but I like it. At first it was a bit of a shock but that was more down to the fact, I haven’t had any colour in my hair since my trip to Hessions.
The hair dye doesn’t have any unpleasant smell and was easy enough to prepare. I think I would definitely buy this again instead of opting for something like the Casting Creme Gloss. I do think next time, I would try a different shade though.

Paese Matte Makeup Base

About a month ago, I got an email from the lovely people over at Cloud10Beauty to let me know that they were going to be stocking Paese Cosmetics. Paese is an award winning Polish Cosmetics brand whose name is derived from an italian word meaning ‘country’ (Pa’eze). Paese cosmetics offer a full range of products from Primers to Foundations, Nail Varnishes and everything in between at very affordable prices.
I was given the opportunity to test out a product so in need of a makeup primer, I asked if I could try the Matte Makeup Base (€8.95). This makeup base is silicon based and claims to effectively mattify and smoothes the skin preparing it for foundations and powders.
I really liked this makeup base, it has quite a velvety texture and glides onto the face really easily. I found that it helped my foundation stay on really well. Something I have been craving for so long. This lovely also contains vitamin E to help restore skin’s youthful appearance. If you have oily/combination skin this is ideal for you. However, if you have dry skin, you should try their Smoothing Makeup Base (€8.95) and don’t forget you get Beauty Points with every purchase in Cloud10Beauty

A Gorgeous Budget Friendly Foundation

A few weeks ago, I received a package from NYC containing their new Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer and Foundation Mousse. The primer is good but more about that in another post. Today, I want to talk to you about the Smooth Skin Mousse Foundation.
The shade I was sent to try was 702 Natural Rose
As you can see from the pics, it is a dark enough shade, way too dark for my pale skin but after applying my tan last night, I decided to see how the shade would match up to that. It matched perfectly, meaning that I have now found the foundation for my bridesmaid duties.
This baby promises to reduce shine, make your pores look smaller and give a matte look without drying out skin. Now, I’ve never been one for mousse foundations, usually finding they dry out my skin and look really false on. This is a mousse foundation with a difference – I fell in love. The mousse is soft and glides onto your skin. The overall finish was one of a flawless nature, it covered up a few blemishes I have at the moment, made my pores looked smaller and it looked like my foundation had been airbrushed on. Happy Days and at €3.99, I think I may have to pick up one for my normal pale skin.
xxx This beautie along with the Skin Smooth Perfecting Primer will be hitting NYC stands this month. Do you like the sound of it? xxx
