Avoid Makeup Meltdown This Summer

Summer is my favourite season, not really because of the sun but because I have so many birthdays to celebrate and it means holiday time. The one thing I really dislike about a sunny day is the dreaded makeup melt that always seems to happen no matter how much I prep and finish my skin.

Anyone else find it really annoying? You spend ages putting your makeup on only for it to slide down your face in the heat.I decided that something needed to be done about it so while I was away I tried the following

Don’t go OTT on products
A face full of makeup just doesn't work in the summer and can cause your skin too look blotchy and can really make you feel as you are melting not just your makeup.

Embrace BB Creams
I can't get enough of decent BB creams, they offer a good SPF and pretty good coverage, I've been using Clarins Skin Perfecting BB Cream and Vichy Idealia BB Cream. They are both gorgeous
Rethink your Mascara

Whether your chilling by the pool or walking around shopping, I always find my mascara is prone to melting in the heat, making me look like a panda. How can I avoid this I thought? I'm not a fan of waterproof mascaras purely because I can never get the volume payoff. I've road tested Benefit They're Real along with a genius product from Catrice called Waterproof Top Coat.

Keep Lips Kissable: I don’t know about you but my lips get into an awful state in the heat so I am trying to wear a moistuirising lipbalm as much as possible. I have been using NYC Applelicious lip balms lately and love them. They are really hydrating while adding a lovely hint of colour

What are your tips for avoiding Makeup Meltdown?

15 Minute Face for Friday Night Drinks

Hello everyone!

I'm Lisa from Scatter Brained Blogging and I'm so excited to be holding down the fort while Anita is on a well-deserved break!

I thought I’d bring you a quick-and-simple look I sported for casual drinks on Friday night. I wanted something that made me feel refreshed and put together after a week’s working. So I cleaned off what was left of the day’s makeup and got to making myself look alive again.

  • First up I used my Inglot makeup base to prime my skin. It’s nice and light and helps my foundation last for hours.
  • I used my Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in 010 Light Porcelain – possibly the palest foundation I’ve ever found in Boots, it’s the perfect colour for my skin tone. It’s a good medium coverage and a satin-skin-like finish, so it’s possible to achieve a near-flawless finish with it.
  • For concealer I used Collection 2000 Lasting Perfectiong in 02 Fair, I used it under my eyes too because after a weeks work I needed something heavy duty!
  • I used my Revlon Photoready cream blush in Pinched, I reviewed this on my blog recently – it gives a lovely warm glow to the skin with the slightest shimmer. I think it really livens up my complexion. I contoured with Nars Laguna, which was my first ever bronzer and I'm still very much in love.
  • For eyes I used my Urban Decay Glide 24/7 Pencil in Demolition and Benefit’s Peek-a-Bright-Eyes. I was looking for something that would brighten my eyes and give a little definition. For mascara I used Maybeline The Falsies – I picked this up on a whim and I'm still trying to figure out how I feed about it, it’s not unlike Benefit’s They’re Real but a little less defined.
  • I quickly ran Catrice Eyebrow pencil in Date With Ash-ton through my brows and for lips chose my newest Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya as a subtle pop of colour and I think it compliments the cream blush really well!
And that’s it – nothing too out there, just something that made me look a little more alive and presentable for an evening in the local.

I hope your enjoyed what is actually my first every FOTD post!
What’s your look of choice for a casual Friday drink?
Do you go subtle like I do or do you go for something fancier?
