My Lust Haves From Brantano.co.uk

If there is one thing I love just as much as makeup, it has to be shoes and accessories. Especially handbags and sunglasses. Always on the lookout for the more budget friendly items, I am loving what Brantano.co.uk have to offer.

There is a huge range on the website but I just had to choose those sunglasses. They are sooo cute and something a bit different. As for the pony handbag, I really want it to match a purse I bought recently.

Brantano have a huge range of shoes and accessories for us women, along with a great selection for the kiddies and the men

Holiday Packing

With the holiday coming round the corner, one thing has been flying around in my mind. How on earth am I going to fit everything myself, hubby and little man need for the 8 days we are away. We have 30kgs between us , I plan on bringing as little as possible so there is lots of room to bring home anything we buy over there.

We are really lucky in that the apartments we have booked has a washing machine so this will definitely help cut down on our clothing luggage.I’ve little man’s clothes all packed because they take up the least amount of room. I've packed them in hubby's suitcase because he has far less things to bring then I do. Have sort of decided what I'll be packing for myself and hubby but still need to get a few bits.

When packing for any type of getaway, I try embrace the following tips:
  • Check with your airline what your baggage allowance is and aim for under the allowance to allow you to be able to buy some stuff while away. We are flying with Ryan Air and have 15kgs each.
  • Write a list of what clothes, makeup, accessories etc you will need to bring with you. If you have a hubby and children to think about write a list for them too. (I’m a sucker for writing lists, something I can thank my dad for)
  • Any beauty related items that can go into travel bottles, put them in travel bottles. I bought a great set in Dealz for €1.49 but then discovered shampoos, Shower Gels etc are really cheap so I'm going to buy toiletries over there then bin what we don't use. Anything that will minimise luggage is welcome.
  • Instead of bringing bottles of foundations, invest in a compact foundation or stick foundation.Spain is going to be hot so foundation wont last any length, instead I will pack a BB Cream for evening time.
  • Instead of bringing heaps of eyeshadows, opt for a couple of eyeshadow palettes.
  • When it comes to packing clothes, I favour the roll method,it seems to work perfectly for me
  • I pack shoes first and then fill around them with clothes.
  • If you’re taking on hand luggage, remember to stick to the under 100ml rule to avoid something being confiscated. I usually take on my handbag, which has my phone, purse, lipbalm and passports. This time round I also need to take on little mans nappy bag but any liquids and foods for him are exempt from the 100ml rule.
Have you any packing tips? Does your head spin like mine when it comes to packing? I’ll show you what beauties I am taking a few days before we go

Essence Nail Art Peel Off Base Coat

I am a girl who loves nail polish. The one thing I dislike is having to use nail polish remover especially when it comes to glitter nail polish removal. Sure, there is the tinfoil method but its time consuming so I do a really bold thing and pick it off. Which leaves my nails in a right state.

Knowing this, Donna recommended Essence Peel Off Base coat. I cant remember the exact price but its around the €2.50 mark at bigger Essence stands.

The base coat goes on white (think Tippex) and dries clear after about 10 minutes. Once dry, you can paint away to your hearts content using regular or glitter polish.

Girls, say goodbye to the pain of nail polish remover, all you need is this lovely!
I am seriously impressed. When I noticed a couple of nails needed repainting all I had to do was effortlessly peel off the polish and pop on a fresh coat.

*The nail polish in these images is Isadora Sugar Crush Turquoise Crush, review coming next week. I also mentioned a secret weapon in last weeks N.O.T.D - this is it*

Will you give this lovely a try?

The Importance of an SPF

With summer seeming like its finally arrived, I wanted to do a post on suncare and how important an SPF is. I tend to wear an SPF all year round, always choosing a moisturiser containing one and usually a foundation too.

Why is SPF important?

Skin damage from sunlight builds up with continued exposure, whether sunburn occurs or not. In addition to skin cancer and sunburn, other effects can include wrinkling, premature aging, and in time, an almost leathery appearance of the skin.

Suncream Splay an important role in a total program to reduce the harmful effects of the sun, along with limiting sun exposure and wearing protective clothing.
Keeping Safe In The Sun
  • Stay out of the sun during peak hours. While these times may vary slightly depending on the season and and where you live, the hours between 10:00 (10:00 am) and 15:00 (3:00 pm) should be spent indoors if at all possible.
  • Keep covered up. Floppy hats and large umbrellas work well but so do beach cover-ups and the like. Long-sleeved cotton shirts are excellent for hiking, cycling etc; see your sports store for special brands that allow breathing as well as cover-up.
  • Use sunscreen on any exposed areas. There are heaps of lipcare and face care suncare products that are realy good.
  •  Always reapply after leaving the water, as it’ll have washed off.
  • Don’t forget hard-to-reach places. Don’t forget to cover the backs of your knees, back of your neck, elbows and back of your ears (if you have short hair). Feet should also be included if you are wearing sandals, flip-flops or going bare-foot. Even these places can hurt a lot with sunburn.
  • Don’t lie in the sun purposefully seeking a tan. This is not only damaging to your skin but might burn you the first few times you try it at the beginning of the season. If you want to tan, do it gradually and sensibly, with short exposure and building up over time.
  • Put a small amount of oil or sunscreen in your hair so you will avoid burning your scalp. Or cover it with a hat. Some shampoos and hair conditioners contain SPF protection.

My Suncare Picks

I'm a fan of three brands when it comes to suncream- Vichy, Hamilton and La Roche Posay. I feel they have really got the best selection in suncare.

*La Roche-Posay demonstrates its commitment to sun protection and sun education by donating €1 to the Irish Cancer Society since 2006 for every purchase of Anthelios Fluid Extreme 50+ as well as continuingly supporting The Melanoma Trust in their personal mission since 2009.*

Do you use an SPF?

Get Away Gorgeous with Benefit and The Morgan Hotel

I love staying in hotels and am always on the lookout for two things.

A. A budget friendly pampering package
B. A quirky hotel

I found both of these last week, when I went to the launch of Get Away Gorgeous with Benefit and The Morgan Hotel.I went to the launch with Donna, Aundrea, Dani, Sarah, Marian and Sian.

With my first step into The Morgan Hotel, I fell in love with the quirky decor. We headed for the penthouse, where we were introduced to the Get Away Gorgeous package. This lovely package includes Overnight stay in a guest room Benefit Cosmetics masterclass in house at The Morgan including a Benefit Pop Up Shop Cocktails and Tapas platter for the group during the class. Prices start at just €100 per person

After a brief introduction, we were whisked away for a tour of the hotel. Here are just a few pics I managed to take. Thanks Donna for the spot of modelling.

How crazy is that bath? I'm obsessed with stand alone baths and loved the idea. After some yummy tapas, we had a nosy at the penthouse patio deck.

Next up was the hilarious Mark from Benefit who introduced us to what Get Away Gorgeous looks guests could choose from.Always in blogger mode, I logged away a couple of Benefit products that I need to purchase. My birthday is coming up in May and I would love to avail of Get Away Gorgeous with some of the girlies.
